10th Anniversary Performance
& Celebration

In January 1997, PRFDance was a dream, a mother's wish to bring her culture alive for her baby son and her community. After 9 months of careful planning, we held our first class on September 10, 1997. On Sunday, September 9, 2007, the Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance & Cultural Center celebrated our 10th Anniversary birthday style with cake and candles, and performances of music and dance by our company and performing arts students. Our celebration, free and open to the public, also featured a "Bombazo" (Bomba Dance), a Puerto Rican tradition that invites the community to come and dance with us before the drum!

Enjoy these photos from our performance celebration that demonstrated our committment to share our culture with our community and hand down our beautiful heritage to a new generation! Approximately 200 attended from our local community, as well as people from Houston, San Antonio, Killeen and Dallas! Together we celebrated our decade of hard work and accomplishments that include 10+ ongoing, weekly cultural arts programs in dance, music and cultural traditions enjoyed by children through adults, the growth of a Professional-level performing company of dancers and musicians who are the Ambassadors of Puerto Rican Culture in Central Texas, the building of our first permanent location (2006), our Affiliation to the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture as one of their four active centers on the mainland US (2005), and an NEA Chairman's Award (2007).

Passing on a Heritage to a New Generation!
