13th Birthday Celebration & Performance
On Sunday, September 12, 2010, approximately 100 from as far as
Houston, Dallas, Killen, San Antonio and even Puerto Rico attended
Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance's 13th Birthday celebration
with live music and dance performances of Bomba, Plena, Salsa, and Jibaro
music by our Performing Company and cultural arts students.
Free and open to the public, our event opened with
FOLKLORE Y RITMOS DE PANAMA and beautiful traditional dances that
demonstrated why Panamanians are such warm and friendly people. Our proud
sponsor, Fiesta Mart, sent Pepe the Parrot to delight the children as well
as a buffet of appetizers, refreshments, and a beautiful
Puerto Rican Flag birthday cake for the community to enjoy.
During the 2nd half we thanked Semign (God) for the many blessings we have
received over the last 13 years with an authentic Taino Areyto (ceremonial
dances) that end with an Areyto Guaytiao (friendship dance) that the
audience participated in, traditions that have been taught to us by
El Concilio Taino Guatu Ma Cu A Boriken.
Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance is very proud to share the joy of our rich
traditions with the community, and hand down our heritage
to the next generation! Enjoy the memories!
