Celebrando 2004 - Community Workshop
Plena & Bomba Dance Workshop
with Paracumbe'
As part of this year's Celebrando project, on June 23, 2004, we offered
our community the opportunity to experience an exciting Bomba and Plena
dance workshop with our special guest Paracumbe' from Puerto Rico.
All ages and dance skill levels were welcome! In addition to
many new and familiar faces who came from our local community, we were
delighted to host approximately 20 children from the Performing Arts Academy
musical theatre summer camp. Paracumbe's workshop, set to live music and
drums, shared the history behind the styles of music and dance found in
Southern Puerto Rico. Children and adults alike enjoyed learning to
dance Bomba and Plena. A good time was had by all! We hope you enjoy
these memories!
