Celebrando 2004 - The Pirates of Puerto Rico
Bomba of Southern Puerto Rico with Paracumbe
Celebrando is our annual, multi-phase project that trains our
professional-level performing company in Puerto Rican traditions and
culminates in a full-length, joint performance with masters from Puerto Rico.
This year's special guest was Paracumbe' who brought us Bomba from
Southern Puerto Rico.
Our Celebrando 2004 project was a giant production involving two years of
research, preparation and planning.
Our 2004 project included:
o a swordfighting workshop to learn safe swordfighting techniques
o a barril-making workshop to learn to make bomba drums
o a master dance/music workshop
to learn the Isla's Southern style
o a community workshop on plena and bomba for our community.

o Celebrando 2004 our joint performance with Paracumbe from Puerto Rico.
