  • Celebrando 2001 with Modesto Cepeda, The State Theatre, June 24, 2pm. Photo Album!!!

Our year 2000 performances were sellouts. Darn, the day before this event we sold out and had to turn people away for this incredible performance. We made history as we presented Celebrando 2001 for the first time in a formal theatre. Special guest, world-renowned Bomba master and folklorist Modesto Cepeda and members of Cimiento joined us, direct from Puerto Rico, for this special event! Watch this space for photos from that show.

  • Austin Salsa Music Festival, Waterloo Park - September 3rd, 2000

Cuban favorite Albita and Puerto Rican trombonist Jimmy Bosch were the headliners at the Year 2000 Austin Salsa Festival. PRFDance was proud to share Puerto Rican roots with the crowd of 4000 Salsa lovers who came to enjoy the festival. The lasting memory of this show...the sound of 4,000 screaming when we took out La Bandera. Wow! Now we know how Ricky Martin feels!

The master legend in salsa, Larry Harlow, the world's reigning virtuoso cuatro player, Yomo Toro, Junior Gonzales and the Latin Legends band headlined the 1999 Salsa Festival. We were proud to be invited to present Puerto Rico's cultural roots at this festival. Favorite memory...getting to meet the sweet, adorable, humble Yomo Toro. The PRFDance director has adored him her whole life. When you come back Yomo, we'll dance a special number just for you!!

PRFDance performs at El Gran Combo Concert (1999)
  • From Puerto Rico, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico - June 11, 1999

We were thrilled out of our minds to perform at the concert of this world reknowned 37+ year-old Salsa Orchestra Our traditional dances that night included our new "La Maquina," a fun dance that pays tribute to the historic train of Puerto Rico. The best memory of the night -- the respect that was given to us by the member of El Gran Combo. Despite the fans who had gathered to talk to them, they were generous enough to stop and watch our performance. We'll never forget that! They are really first-class!

  • From Puerto Rico, Tony Vega and his Orq. - March 26, 1999

Austin Salsa lovers were treated to a concert by Tony Vega, world-famous Sonero from Puerto Rico! Our favorite memory of that show, doing our performance on the dance floor and having the people standing all around us and dancing Plena all around us! Thanks for the memory Austin!
