Celebrando 2005 - Folklore of Loiza, Season Project
with William Cepeda & AfroBoricua
Celebrando is our annual, multi-phase project that trains our
professional-level performing company in Puerto Rican traditions and
culminates in a full-length, joint performance with masters from Puerto Rico.
This year's Celebrando 2005 project focused on the rich
folklore of Loiza. This year's special guest was William Cepeda and
members of AfroBoricua direct from Puerto Rico.
Our Celebrando 2005 project was a giant production involving two years of
research, preparation and planning.
Our 2005 project included:
o a music and dance workshop with William Cepeda & AfroBoricua
o historical investigation of Santiago Apostol
o historical investigation of The Baquine
o an
exciting workshop with Rupert Reyes, Director of Teatro Vivo
o Last but not least, photos from the BIG SHOW
o And Official Poster [PDF]
We hold the banner high for Puerto Rico everyday!
